The Cascade Tea Gardens still exist today as Cascade Gardens in South Hobart. In December 1908 there was this report in the papers: “Mr. Sayer has effected great improvements at the Cascades Tea Gardens. The electric light has been installed from the electric tramline all over the gardens, the shady grotto of man ferns, and all up the lengthy zig-zag to the top of the high hill on the opposite side of the rivulet, being thus illuminated. On Saturday the gardens looked lovely, the pathway from the tram terminus down the grounds being lined with phloxes, stocks, roses, and other flowers in lines and masses.” See more in our document on the tea gardens here.
