There are several monuments relating to tragedies which occurred on Mt. Wellington.
Radford’s and Richards’ Monuments. These two young men lost their lives are a result of exposure and exhaustion during a race to the Pinnacle in 1903. See our Documents page for this and other downloadable information..
Cook’s Monument. This so-called “monument” is actually not a monument at all, but a sandstone plaque commemorating the 1861 Hobart waterworks system at the Fern Tree Bower. Henry Cook was mayor at the time. See our Documents page for this and other downloadable information.
